Rebecca Hall reuniting with director Adam Wingard for action-thriller Onslaught

Rebecca Hall is to reunite with her ‘Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire’ director Adam Wingard for his action-thriller ‘Onslaught’.

The 42-year-old actress will be joining her Monsterverse co-star Dan Stevens and Adria Arjona in the A24 flick, which has now entered production in New Mexico.

‘Onslaught’ follows a mother (Arjona) living in a trailer who is forced to rely on "a particular set of skills" to protect her family once dangerous beings escape a secret military base and threaten her and her loved ones.

While Hall’s character is unknown, The Hollywood Reporter claims her role will be related to that of Stevens’ part - a German scientist working on the experiments that escape the base.

As well as Hall, Stevens and Arjona, Michael Biehn, Eric Wareheim, Reginald VelJohnson and UFC star Alex ‘Poatan’ Pereira are also due to appear in ‘Onslaught’, though their roles have not been disclosed.

The flick - which is yet to receive a release date - will be produced by Aaron Ryder and Andrew Swett under their Ryder Picture Company banner alongside director Wingard, who will also produce with manager Jeremy Platt through Breakaway Civilization.

Meanwhile, Lyrical Media's Jon Rosenberg and Natalie Sellers are executive producing opposite A24, with the two companies co-financing the film.

Hall last worked with Wingard on 2024's ‘Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire’, in which she played Dr. Illene Andrews - a scientist who travels to Hollow Earth to find Kong and team the creature up with Godzilla after a new threat emerges.

Wingard had also helmed the 2021 Monsterverse blockbuster ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’, though will be parting ways with the series to make ‘Onslaught’.

Despite his exit, the ‘Deathnote’ moviemaker previously teased he had "more story to tell" in the Monsterverse.

Speaking to Discussing Film ahead of the movie's release, he said: "The whole idea that if you've done two movies, like, maybe you should just go ahead and do a third because, as you said, there's a trilogy in there.

"It just depends on how [‘Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire’] does and how things kind of shape out.

"I do have more story to tell with these monsters, and I know where I'd go with it. I would be very excited to be able to come back on for another one if things worked out!"

Reflecting on his work, Wingard explained he wanted to prioritise the two beasts and deliberately opted for a minimal human cast.

He told The Hollywood Reporter: "In the development phase, my motto was, ‘Simplicity is key.’ And so I knew that if we created a smaller cast, we could create a more intimate story.

"We can still spend time with [the human characters], and at the same time, we can spend more time with the monsters and not shortchange one or the other."
