Matt Damon 'all in' for new Jason Bourne movie

Matt Damon is “all in” for a new Jason Bourne movie.

The Odyssey actor has starred as the amnesiac CIA assassin in four movies from the Bourne action-thriller franchise and is hoping to reprise the role in a new film from director and writer Edward Berger.

Revealing that he and Berger have been discussing the movie, Damon told The Dan Patrick Show: “It looks really good, and I’m very hopeful that it will happen. If we really feel like we’ve got a shot at doing something great, I’m all in. I love that character. It’s been an incredible part of my life. I’d love to do it again.”

Damon first played Bourne in 2002’s The Bourne Identity and followed it up with The Bourne Supremacy in 2004, The Bourne Ultimatum in 2007 and Jason Bourne in 2016.

He notably was not involved in 2012’s The Bourne Legacy, which starred Jeremy Renner.

Last month, he revealed he was interested in reprising the role.

Matt told Parade: “We're always looking to try to get another one of those because we loved it, everyone who worked on them. So there's always some attempt going on to write, to come up with a new story. So if you have anything, let us know."

Meanwhile, Damon – who is currently starring as Odysseus in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey – also gave an update on his new movie from Everything Everywhere All at Once directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert.

He explained that the filmmakers convinced him to star in the movie with a wild pitch.

Damon said: “The way they pitched it to me was: if The Breakfast Club meets Inception meets an anime film meets an episode of The John Oliver Show that didn’t get aired. So, if you liked Everything Everywhere All at Once and all the wildness and all the heart, I think you’ll really like this one. It’s a really special project.”

Matt’s co-stars in the film include Sandra Oh, Charles Melton, and Michael Gandolfini, PinkPantheress, Sean Kaufman, Silvia Dionicio, Jackson Kelly, Kerrice Brooks, and Thalia Dudek.

The release date has been moved from June 12, 2027 to November 19, 2027.
